Stop Plate
Stop Plates are metal ground-bearing plates you fit to the base of posts to prevent sinking in soft or loose soil. The plate spreads the post's concentrated load over a larger ground surface area, resisting the settling and frost heave that soft soils often cause, so your posts hold their installation height and plumb alignment throughout the trellis's lifespan. Tell us your soil type and post spacing and we'll size the plate to fit.

Install the stop plate level at the base of the post so the plate contacts the ground directly. The plate distributes the post's load over a much larger area, reducing bearing stress on soft soil and keeping your post from settling or heaving seasonally, so the trellis geometry stays stable.
