G Pin: galvanized G-shaped steel prop pin that sets the height of an adjustable steel prop

Props & Trench Struts

G Pin

G Pin is a G-shaped round steel pin that passes through the inner tube of a prop to set the coarse height adjustment. The hooked shape locks it in place and keeps it captive in the prop assembly, resting on the prop nut below. It also sets the length of trench struts. Hire fleets keep replacement pins in each size series to cover lost or bent pins in the fleet. Specify the size (#0–#4) and the quantity you need.

Pin form

G-shaped hook keeps the pin in place

The G profile hooks into the inner tube and prevents the pin from falling through or out during height adjustment. The shape also makes the pin easy to handle and position by hand on site.

Common applications

Where it is used.

Application

Formwork support in slab and beam construction

Set the coarse height of the prop so the formwork deck or beam sits at the required level, then fine-tune with the prop nut. Replace bent or damaged pins to keep the fleet ready.

Application

Trench shoring and excavation bracing

The G pin sets the length of trench struts between walings or trench sheets. Stock replacement pins for each size so the shoring system can be reconfigured across multiple trenches.

Application

Fleet maintenance and asset management

Keep G pins in stock for each size in the series. As site conditions change or props are moved, replacement pins allow you to rebuild the prop configuration without waiting for supplies.

Questions answered

Common questions.

What is a G pin called in different regions?
G Pin is a prop pin or G pin in Australia and New Zealand and is listed as a G pin in US prop specifications. It is a broche étai in French and a spinotto in Italian. Every name refers to the pin that passes through a prop's inner tube and rests on the prop nut.
How do you choose a replacement G pin?
G Pin is matched to the prop it goes in, by the prop size from #0 to #4 and the hole in the inner tube. Corona makes G pins from 10 to 18 mm round steel, zinc plated, hot dip galvanized or painted to suit the rest of the fleet.
