Cuplock System: galvanized cuplock vertical and horizontals locked together at a cup joint

Jacks, Planks & Systems

Cuplock System

Cuplock System is a modular tube-and-cup vertical scaffold framework with ledgers and transoms that lock into cups welded at 0.5 m intervals on the verticals. It is the standard framework for facade scaffolding, towers, birdcages and stairs in the UK, Ireland and internationally, often specified against BS EN 12810. Specify the vertical height, bay configuration, finish and the quantity you need.

Modular cup locking

Ledgers lock into cups at every 0.5 m

Verticals arrive with welded cups top and bottom at 0.5 m spacing. Each ledger or transom blade end slides into the top cup at your chosen height and locks firm — the cup lip grips it so it cannot slip under load. That means you set bay height freely within the cup grid, and the connection stays locked without bolts or pins.

Flexible bay widths

Build bays from 0.6 m to 3.0 m

The 150 mm spigot joint accepts ledgers and transoms at any cup height, so you choose whether a bay spans 0.6 m or stretches to 3.0 m wide. That flexibility lets you fit the scaffold framework to any building facade or structural edge without custom-length horizontals.

Common applications

Where it is used.

Application

Facade access during facade installation and repair

The cuplock framework wraps the building face floor by floor. Cup intervals match typical storey heights so stages land level, and the flexible bay width fits window or panel patterns as the scaffold travels around corners and edges.

Application

Freestanding birdcages and internal towers

Birdcages for plant, hoists or service shafts rise inside buildings with cuplock's rigid cup-locked connections. The framework stands square and plumb under its own weight and operating loads because every horizontal locks into its cup the moment it is seated.

Application

Stairways and tight access in crowded job sites

Cuplock bays compress to 0.6 m wide, so you can build staircases and narrow scaffolding through confined plant rooms, around existing beams, and in dense site layouts. The small bay range makes it possible to tie the scaffold directly to existing structural edges.

Questions answered

Common questions.

What is cuplock scaffolding called in different regions?
Cuplock System is sold as cuplock or cuplock scaffold in the US, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, where it is also grouped with other system scaffolds. It is échafaudage cuplock in French and Cuplock Gerüst in German, where it falls under Modulgerüst.
How does a cuplock joint lock?
Cuplock System standards carry a fixed bottom cup and a sliding top cup every 0.5 m. The blade ends of up to four ledgers or transoms sit in the bottom cup, and the top cup is turned down over them to lock the node with no loose fittings.
Scaffolding & Shoring Systems

The modular framework of cuplock vertical scaffold

Cuplock System supplies the verticals, cups, ledgers and transoms that lock together to form the scaffold framework. Planks create the working platforms, and Screw Jacks with Base Plates foot the base. See how cuplock assembles with other components.
