L-bend rod in frame guides
The rod slides vertically within pressed-steel guides mounted to one leaf of the double gate. When the gate closes, the rod drops into a ground-mounted center stop, locking the leaf in position.

Fencing Components
Gate Drop Rod is a round steel rod with an L-bend handle that holds the fixed leaf of a double gate shut, known as a drop bolt or cane bolt in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. It slides in guides on the gate frame and drops into a ground stop. Corona also makes 5/16 in gate rods. Specify the diameter, length, finish and the quantity you need.

Gate rod 5/16 in diameter; drop rods 1/2 and 5/8 in drawn rounds, 30 and 36 in nominal lengths with standard L bend; pressed-steel guides for 1-5/8 and 1-7/8 in gate frames.
Works alongside gate hinges, latches and guides in chain-link and farm gate systems to hold one leaf shut while the other can swing open for vehicle or equipment access.
Also known as
Gate Drop Rods are drop rods in the US and drop bolts or cane bolts in the UK, Australia and New Zealand; in other languages they are verrou de sol (French), Bodenriegel (German), catenaccio (Italian) and pasador de suelo (Spanish).
Guides on the frame of the fixed leaf hold the rod upright. Close the leaf, lower the rod into the ground stop, and the leaf is pinned while the other leaf opens and closes against it.
Common applications
Lock the stationary leaf while the other swings open, keeping both leaves aligned and preventing drift when the gate is closed.
Hold the gate shut securely without springs or latches, working across pasture, boundary and stock-control fencing installations.
Provide a simple, mechanical hold for industrial and utility double-gate installations where the gate must remain locked between passages.
